The IPS provides two different ways to view and evaluate the past performance of our investment solutions:
Portfolio View: Build a portfolio and see the impact regular transactions and reinvested distributions would have had on its growth over any historical time period.
Compare Funds: Compare the performance of two or more individual funds over time based on a $10,000 initial investment.
This step-by-step resource can support you in helping your clients make informed investment decisions about their portfolio and future investments.
1. Home Screen:
To begin adding funds, select a fund from the Fund Name drop down menu. Narrow your search by selecting a Series and entering an Initial Investment amount.
Next, add your Initial Investment amount.
You have the option to add an amount for Monthly Contributions and Withdrawals.
Click on Add Fund to Portfolio once done. This will take you to the Portfolio View tab where you can continue to build your portfolio (up to a maximum of 12 funds.
Helpful Tips:
By default, the fund you select will automatically show performance beginning from its inception date (the date a fund series began offering its units to investors). You can change this date in the Portfolio View screen to show performance within a set time period by:
- Adjusting the timeline bar directly below the graph in the Portfolio View screen to a set time period.
- Choosing specific dates from the drop down menus just below the timeline bar.
2. Portfolio View Tab:
The Portfolio View tab allows you to view the performance of funds as a portfolio.
The first fund you selected from the Home Screen will be displayed in the Portfolio View.
To add more funds, click +Add Another Fund and repeat the same steps as you did in the Home Screen.
Select Your Viewing Options:
- Start/End Dates - Once you have added the funds you wish to view, you can customize the chart to show the performance within a set time period.
- By default, the fund you select will automatically show performance beginning from its inception date (the date a fund series began offering its units to investors). You can change this date in the Portfolio View screen to show performance within a set time period by:
- Adjusting the timeline bar directly below the graph in the Portfolio View screen to a set time period.
- Choosing specific dates from the drop down menus just below the timeline bar.
- In order to view the performance of all funds from a common start date, the Start Date will only go as far back to the date of the most recently launched fund. The End Datewill only go as far as the most recent month for which data is available.
- By default, the Portfolio View will only display performance with reinvested distributions.
- Show Bear Market Events – Click to view some of the events that have been catalysts for market downturns.
- View Distributions – Click to view all of the distributions that the selected funds have made within your selected time period.
- Use the Edit/Delete buttons to adjust funds as needed.
- Click Generate Report to create a customized summary for your client.
Helpful Tips:
If you choose to view your portfolio using a different Start Date, the inception date for each fund in your portfolio will always be displayed in the Historical Fund Performance table.
3. Compare Funds Tab:
The Compare Funds tab allows you to view the individual performance of funds.
Funds selected in the Portfolio View tab will be carried forward to this screen, however, the performance displayed is now based on an initial investment amount of $10,000 for each fund.
To add more funds, click +Add Another Fund.
Each line within the chart represents a single fund.
Like the Portfolio View screen, you can customize the chart to show the performance of all your chosen funds within a set time period by selecting a Start and End Date. In order to view the performance of all funds from a common start date, the Start Date will only go as far back to the date of the most recently launched fund. The End Date will only go as far as the most recent month for which data is available.
Show Bear Market Events – Click to view some of the events that have been catalysts for market downturns.
Click Generate Report to create a customized summary for your client.
